Media wall Solihull
Media wall heaven
Having worked in so many areas of this house, the lounge was one I was looking forward to getting stuck into.
Various media wall concepts had been discussed for a while, but as before with this customer, I was given creative freedom to design what I thought would work best.
The plan encompassed two, tall anthracite radiators, replacement door frames, full-room skim and decor, and a feature light box.
Martin wished to keep his curved 65" TV which gave me the idea of curving the slatted panels behind it. The fireplace he liked was a 'Three-sided' model and so the back-wall curve in the TV section was carried down to compliment that feature.
Two functional single-sockets were subtly added to the side of the main section. TV backlighting is Philips Hue with a sync unit to portray the screen-lighting. Lighting in the ceiling box and the tall niches are again Philips Hue colour GU10 bulbs (linked to the sync box) and the housing units are plaster-in models providing a super-slick, sunken visual effect. A 10m Philips Hue led strip wraps the perimeter of the lightbox to glow and project over the original ceiling with any shade and brightness of colour.
Within the tall niches and on the back wall of the room are stylish smart wavy LED wall lights, app-controlled. The roller blind at the window is a smart-app controlled unit which compliments the room perfectly. The dark woodwork chosen is a nod to the staircase and landing doorframe colour, tying his style across the house.
Overall, another enjoyable and rewarding project for Martin making him our biggest customer. We have almost worked through the whole house. Rumour has it he is selling up in 2025 and buying a new project in Hagley. See you there!
